Step-by-Step Instructions for Silky Red Wine Mushroom Sauce
  1. In a large sauté pan, melt 2 ounces of butter over medium-high heat until bubbling and frothy, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Add sliced baby Bella mushrooms to the pan and cook for 5 to 7 minutes without stirring until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until browned on both sides.
  3. Add remaining butter to the pan. Once melted, add finely chopped shallots and minced garlic. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until shallots are soft and translucent.
  4. Pour in red wine, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and bring to a gentle boil. Let reduce for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Mix flour with beef broth to create a slurry, then add to the sauce while stirring continuously until thickened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Check seasoning and adjust if needed. Return sautéed mushrooms to the sauce and keep warm on low heat until ready to serve.
