Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, chocolate fudge pudding mix, sour cream, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 28-32 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 30 minutes.
- Poke holes in the cooled cake with a wooden spoon handle, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of milk until thickened. Pour evenly over the cake, letting it seep into the holes.
- Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and chocolate pudding mix until fluffy. Spread evenly over the cake.
- Crush Oreo cookies and sprinkle over the whipped frosting for a dirt effect.
- Decorate with Milano cookies for tombstones, Ghost Peeps, and candy pumpkins. Use black gel icing for detailing.
- Slice into 12 portions and serve at your Halloween gathering.
