  • 1.75 cups Water Or substitute with broth
For the Aromatics
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped, yellow or sweet onion preferred
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Can substitute with ghee or plant-based butter
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Can use coconut oil as an alternative
For Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked preferred
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric Powder Fresh turmeric can be used
For Garnish
  • 0.25 cup Freshly Chopped Parsley Can substitute with cilantro

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat until melted and bubbling.
  3. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until translucent and lightly golden.
  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, coating the onions evenly and allowing it to bloom in the warm butter.
  5. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir gently to combine with the onion mixture for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Pour in the water, add salt and black pepper, and stir everything well.
  7. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  8. After cooking, remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes while still covered.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
