Cooking Steps
- Melt the butter in a medium-sized pot over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 2 minutes, then add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Sprinkle in turmeric powder and stir well before adding the rinsed basmati rice. Toast the rice for about a minute.
- Pour in chicken stock, salt, and black pepper, then bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.
Notes
Rinse the rice to remove excess starch for fluffiness. Adjust cooking time based on stove types.
