  • 1 cup Basmati Rice Rinsed to remove excess starch
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Or coconut oil for dairy-free option
  • 1 medium Onion Finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder Key ingredient for color and flavor
  • 2 cups Chicken Stock Or vegetable stock for vegetarian option
  • ½ teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Parsley For garnish, optional

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Melt the butter in a medium-sized pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 2 minutes, then add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Sprinkle in turmeric powder and stir well before adding the rinsed basmati rice. Toast the rice for about a minute.
  4. Pour in chicken stock, salt, and black pepper, then bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.

Notes

Rinse the rice to remove excess starch for fluffiness. Adjust cooking time based on stove types.
