Preparation Steps
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, and five spice powder until well combined. Place the chicken thighs in the marinade, ensuring they’re fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Arrange the marinated chicken thighs on the tray and reserve any extra marinade for basting later.
- Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes. Halfway through, baste the chicken with the reserved marinade. Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- If desired, transfer the chicken to the grill or broiler for 2 minutes per side for a charred finishing touch.
- Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before slicing into bite-sized pieces. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes
For more intense flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Basting during baking enhances the glaze.
