For the Sandwich
  • 2 slices Sturdy Bread (sourdough, rustic Italian, or Texas toast)
  • 1 cup Low-Moisture Mozzarella Cheese Grated
  • 1 cup Provolone Cheese Grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Finely grated
  • 1/4 cup Marinara/Pizza Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Mini Beef Pepperoni Chopped
  • 1/4 cup Bell Peppers Optional, sautéed
  • 1/4 cup Red Onion Optional, sautéed
  • 1/4 cup Black Olives Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Basil Optional, crushed
  • 1/4 cup Cooked Beef Sausage/Mushrooms Optional
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Optional

Equipment

  • Non-stick or cast-iron pan

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by softening the unsalted butter. Meanwhile, grate the cheeses and chop your toppings.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Spread a layer of marinara or pizza sauce on the unbuttered side. Add a mix of the grated cheeses and toppings, then top with another slice of bread, buttered side out.
  3. Preheat a pan over medium-low heat. Cook two sandwiches for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 4-6 minutes to melt the cheese.
  4. Transfer the grilled sandwiches to a cutting board and let them rest for 2-3 minutes. Cut diagonally and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
