Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil and sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink.
- Incorporate chopped bell peppers into the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes until slightly softened.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and add cooked rice if using. Season to taste and stir, allowing to simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly and pressing it down gently.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and heated throughout.
