Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss walnut halves and rinsed black beans in a bowl with olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper. Spread on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway.
  3. Process old-fashioned rolled oats in a food processor until minced, then transfer back to the mixing bowl.
  4. Blend the cooled walnut and bean mixture in the food processor until finely chopped but not pureed. Combine with oats in the bowl.
  5. In the mixing bowl, combine minced oats with the ingredients: egg, tomato paste, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, dehydrated onion, garlic powder, paprika, steak seasoning, and liquid smoke. Mix until well combined.
  6. Shape the mixture into four equal patties and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, ensuring grates are clean and oiled.
  8. Grill each patty for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes on the other side.
