Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Begin by letting the fresh cod fillets sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then season with salt and pepper, and dredge in flour.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat, add cod pieces and sear for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Remove the skillet from heat for about 1 minute to cool slightly.
  4. Return the skillet to medium heat, add remaining butter, sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds, then sprinkle in flour to create a roux.
  5. Pour in heavy cream and lemon juice, add Italian seasoning, stirring continuously for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese and parsley until the sauce is smooth, adjusting seasoning as needed.
  7. Return seared cod to the skillet, spoon sauce over, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.
